The painting portrays Johann Adam Reincken, Dieterich Buxtehude and Johann Theile making music together, alongside a fourth musician whose identity remains uncertain. With a touch of poetic license, Hathor Consort imagines this figure as Philipp Heinrich Erlebach. At a time when Hamburg offered refuge from the turmoil of war and flourished as a vibrant musical center, these musicians formed part of a remarkable creative community.
