J.S. BACH TRIO SONATAS
Johann Sebastian Bach: Excerpts from the cantatas »Meine Seufzer, meine Tränen« BWV 13, »Herr, wie du willt, so schicks mit mir« BWV 73 and »Der Friede sei mit dir« BWV 158 as well as other works
The organ that has been in Grasberg since 1788 was originally built by Arp Schnitger for the church of the Hamburg orphanage. Some of the most famous organists of their time are said to have played on it, including Bach. Wouldn’t it be possible to show what Bach’s music might have sounded like back then in a programme with this organ? This is exactly what Romina Lischka does with her Hathor Consort. Named after the Ancient Egyptian mother goddess and centred around a viol ensemble, they are very familiar with the composer’s oeuvre. The soloist is Dutch bass-baritone Harry van der Kamp, whose unrivalled artistry as an opera, oratorio and ensemble singer is documented in over 100 CD recordings. When he sings some of the Bach Cantatas’ most beautiful bass arias with a masterful combination of artful vocals, articulation and expressive power, he once again demonstrates why he is one of the leading voices in his field.
